Default 4.2 and accepting appointments

Please Login to Remove!

I am using 4.2 and am a BIS user. I originally thought that BIS users would be able to accept appointments with this upgrade?

I believe the ability to accept appts via BIS was for Blackberry to Blackberry. Maybe someone else can confirm.

Thumbs up

Since loading 4.2 and the AT&T upgrade in BIS, I have been able to send and accept meeting invitations to blackberry and PC-based users. This is functionality that I previously did not have.

Someone more knowledgeable may have a suggestion. My recommendation would be to contact your carrier and speak with BB tech support.

I was aware of this option but didn't know it controlled the service book used for inviting attendees in the calendar app, though:

Environment
BlackBerry® devices
BlackBerry Device Software 4.0

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Procedure
To change the default service book:

Note for Corporate users: The Desktop service book is the address associated to a corporate account using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

For BlackBerry Device Software 4.0:

Open Options.
Open Message Services. The default service book is highlighted.
Click the trackwheel to display the menu.
Select Change Option.
Highlight the new default service book.
Press the trackwheel to select the new default service book.
Press Escape.
Select Save.
For BlackBerry Device Software 4.1:

Open Options.
Open Advanced Options.
Open Message Services. The default service book is highlighted.
Click the trackwheel to display the menu.
Select Change Option.
Highlight the new default service book.
Press the trackwheel to select the new default service book.
Press Escape.
Select Save.

Additional Info
The BlackBerry device will not use the default service book if precedence is set with a prior message using a different service book. In this case, the service book associated with that email address will override the default service book.

I don't know if Verizon is BIS 2.3.

In layman's terms, is this feasible to do?

If so, I am also a 4.2 user.

Yes, I have this this and works fine but there is an issue. I can send and receive meeting invites from my gmail, yahoo and other free accounts but there is an issue with my office account.
-->When I get new appointment to my office exchange account it is being sent out via BIS as a normal mesg so i can not Accept or Deny the meeting.
Also when I send the meeting req from my BB to my office account it will not go, says invalid email address. I know address is right because i can send/recv emails.
Any idea? I have case open with RIM.

Have you changed the default message service as I posted above?

My messaging default is GMAIL, so just change to another account? I would probably choose my corporate one.

I changed the default messaging service.

For Service books, they were all checked, but like the messaging services, it said CMIME, so I assume that's correct

This is referring to composing a new email. If you have previously emailed a certain contact with a particular account it will use that account by default. If not then it will use the default messaging account. For calendar attendee invites it will pull the default messaging account.

To add to the knowledge base, the solution was simply resending my service books to get me to BIS 2.3
