Default flashing red light. no power.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all I've been researching this for hours now. I tried the JL_Cmnder solution. I tried starting the app loader without the desktop. I cannont get my BB 8310 recovered.

Backstory:

I have had this BB for months, but I never installed the desktop software. Well, today I decided to install it to check it out and maybe update my BB. I downloaded and installed the Desktop manager I connected the bb and it was discovered without incident. I did the update thing from the bb website and it started to update my phone. It looked like it was going to take a while, so I went out to diner. I came back and my laptop monitor had shut off and the laptop had gone to sleep. I brought it back up and it looked like it was going to finish the installs, but then it gave me an error. I tried to turn the phone back on, but no luck. just a flashing red light.

I do get a beep when I umplug and reconnect the usb. I tried the java thing and several other thing I have seen on line, but no luck.

is there any other way to reset this thing? a button? using a paperclip? anything?

thanks.

i tried that several times. My phone is password protected, so it askes me for the password. I put it in and then it just hangs there and does nothing.

I am currently uninstalling DM 4.6 and downloading 4.3. to see if that might help. don't really see how it will but someone suggested it on another forum, so I'll give it a try.

When I used JL_Cmder i would put in my password and get through all the prompts, but then it wouldn't be able to communicate with the port. It would just hang there.

any help at all is greatly appreciated. thanks for the suggestion.

I Installed DM 4.3 and tried using the app loader from dm, but no luck. However, this time it did not aske me for the password. Just stuck on "Connecting to device (ARM)...

also tried it from c:\program files\common files\rim\apploader\loader.exe. This time it asked for my password, but after I entered it, it just hung there.

I have the phone at work today. i will try jl_cmder again. I'll also give RIM a call.

Talking Problem resolved!!!

I took my phone to work today and downloaded dm4.6 to my computer there. I connected my BB and it was detected right away. I ran the app loader and was able to connect and update my phone. Unfortunately, I lost a lot of contacts that I hadn't saved to my SIM, but I do have the ones that were on the SIM. I can live with that.

So, I would suggest to anyone who has a flashing red light and no power and can't get the phone to connect, to try a different computer.

thanks for the help.
