Default 8800 GPS failing after long run?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I've been stuffing around with the 8800 and have this program on there that uses the GPS frequently. It runs fine for a day or two, but then all of a sudden, it just stops getting GPS. I can never get the GPS to come back either. Even if I go to Options -> Advanced -> GPS and refresh, it can't update my position and just times out.

I know I have GPS signal, because I am in a wide open space where the GPS signal has been coming through fine for the last 5 years. Other devices here are working fine also.

The only way I can get my GPS to start working again is to turn off the 8800 so when it starts backup, it has to go through it's whole startup process. So basically, I have to take out the battery for a minute or so, then put it back in and start it up.

As it's not just my program that can't access the GPS anymore, does anyone know if this is an 8800 problem? Has anyone ran a GPS application on their device constantly for a few days and seen what happened?

Appreciate the comments.

Dan.
