Default Help Needed: How to upgrade OS?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey there, I have had my Storm for a while and I am getting pretty annoyed at how slow it tends to run. I have heard that upgrading my OS may help improve this.

Can someone tell me (in basic terms) how to upgrade my OS?

All the websites I tried directed me to Verizon's site that says that .75 is the newest. Thanks for the help.

p.s. Slacker is awesome.

There are very specific instructions here... nothing is different EXCEPT to substitute your Beta OS with the one in the post.

I followed the steps in the link but could not open the downloaded file.

The error message says "Error reading setup initialization file"

Any ideas?

You need to delete THAT *.exe file and download the file again. I believe that you likely simply got a bad or partial download.

no, you can leave the loader.exe.

I would delete OS file you downloaded, and redownload that.

Jamie,

I ran .75 for about 2 months before upgrading to .99. Let me tell you straight up. .99 is not going to result in ANY dramatic increase in operational speed. Your Storm will still run at speed you are accustomed to. The .99 OS is only going to fix certain aspects such as orientation, camera functioning, etc. The Storm operation is not going to speed up.

Additionally, Slacker is a battery hog and will slow your phone down if you leave it running in the background when you aren't using it. Close the application when you aren't using it, as well as any other application.

If you need .99, Google it or surf around Crackberrydotcom. It's out there.

My Storm was running fine with .75. Have you tweaked your keyboard settings and turned on Memory Cleaning? Those two actions will stablize your Storm and make it run better. I also find that clearing the Event log and doing a battery pull every couple days keeps the Storm running well.

I resisted loading the beta but ultimately did it after becoming more familiar with the BB world. You sound like you are where I was at when I first got my Storm. I am being totally honest with you. Loading a beta is not going to give you the effect you are expecting.
