Default Is WiFi on the 8900 only used for internet & email?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm just curious to know if calls or sms go through WiFi as well as internet and email.

Not sure about AT&T, but TMO has UMA which allows calling over wifi. (But I don't think AT&T currently has UMA.)

With AT&T, there is no UMA. Data will go thru the Wifi, but not voice calls.

UMA on tmobile will do data, phone calls, text, and email. Its just like being on a tower, UMA has full data/voice capabilities.

...and having UMA with TMobile makes all data-based apps that much faster. Very nice, as I can get WiFi/UMA at home, at work, and in more and more public places (libraries, restaurants, some public parks like in downtown Manhattan, etc). Great feature.

The cool thing is you can browse and talk at the same time while on UMA kinda like you can on AT&Ts 3G.

One of the main reasons I'm still with TMO. no 3G where i live and depending what room I am in no EDGE reception. but with UMA have not miss a call yet

can use BBM,! that comes in handy when you have annoying callers. turn off the network they have to message you!

no chance of voice in the UK with wifi... we still got slow-mo gprs...
