Default 8703e and BMW Frustration

Please Login to Remove!

I love my new Verizon 8703e!

I love my 2006 BMW 550i!

I can't pair the two? BMW says that the Verizon 8703e will not work. Before I give-up, I wanted to tap the real experts. Can anyone help?

send me the bmw and I'll have a look.

Does the user manual (for the car) give you any hints?

Maybe there is an add-on you can use?

Default bes?

Are you on a BES? if so in many cases you have to have the admin change the IT policy to allow pairing and connections with other objects. I am not sure about cars but I know in usng BT to connect to laptops i had to do that for my users

I have a 2006 bmw 550i also .. and I also love it... It paired with my 8700, 8800, 8300, 8100 (pearl) with no issues ... The thing about Verizon is that they really mess with the device software. Have you tried installing a BlackBerry OS that's newer and not from Verizon?

Fyi -- I am able to pair my 8300 and pearl with the 2007 535 also.. My X5 doesn't have bluetooth.. Cant wait to get a new one of those.

I am on the BES, but we are able to pair the devices. (I have paired with laptops and ear pieces.)

I have not installed another bby OS, but I am fairly confident mine is up to date. I have 4.1.0.377.

Thanks for your reply's. but it is looking as if I will need to get my company to change carriers. Fat Chance! I live in Dallas.

Are you doing through the I-drive?

It has been quite a while since I have paired them, so from my foggy memory:
1) Put the BMW Bluetooth system into search mode
2) turn on Bluetooth on your BB
3) BB->options->Bluetooth->add device
4) They should have found each other
5) input any 4 digit code when prompted by BB
6) input the same code into the BMW when prompted

The trick is once your BMW has found it, don't click the idrive knod down, push up towards dashboard then down

Yup. I put the IDrive into pairing mode, then did Options-->Bluetooth-->Add Device.

8703e Searched for Devices, and finally came up with "No New Devices Found. Try Again?" Obviously, I did it several times with different options. (Discoverable on/off, Address Book Transfer Enabled/Disabled, etc.) Seems like the BMW just doesn't recognize a Verizon 8703e.

Thanks to everyone for trying.
