Default Zen with unified message icon

Please Login to Remove!

Any chance of a Zen rewrite with a unified message icon. I agree with some of the other users, can't stand my SMS/voicemail being seperate from email and pin. Did RIM come up with this theme or somebody else? Who would be able to do something like this or what software would it take? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Set up a keystroke search and you won't find it to be that much more work.

M takes me to messages, then Alt-M filters for SMS.

I find Alt-S gives me SMS, and Alt-I all incoming, Alt-P all phone calls, but no way of getting the old display of all messages and all call logs in one screen, any ideas how. It would be better to have a modified version of Zen having these combined under 1 menu option like how it was in the before times, lol. Also combining the message icon on the info bar at the top. Or atleast making the different icons different as Im always looking at the icon and thinking which is that now.

I recommend thinking of keystrokes instead of icons. M is for messages, followed by Alt-S. Zen separates them, so I guess Zen is not for you if that is your biggest issue. Alternatively, put only the SMS icon on the home screen and leave M to get to messages.

Ah i found the Alt-M thing, missed the fact you had to add a search. As for using M to get to messages, Im using a 7100 so it dials 9. lol. Think itd still be nice to have the combined messages atleast as an option, is the zen theme modifyable in anything like plazmic, or would it have to be bodged in a hex editor?

Zen just needs a few modifications to make it a little more 7100 friendly, mainly some way of getting it to load all its screens during boot, so once you'v entered your password its already all in memory to run smothly. But thats never going to happen.

Check out my tips doc, and you can find shortcuts that exist. One reason I prefer the full keyboard is those main screen shortcuts.

If you hit 9 and your BB dials the number 9 then you have to disable dialing from the home screen.

I personally like the separation of SMS messages and emails. It's one of the best things about Zen to me! What is it about this separation that bugs you so much?

Id just like my calls back in the same screen as sms, so i can tell why a conversation looks incomplete easily. Esspecially usefull when your reading through everything after a night out. lol

I'm with HuwSy on this. One of the great benefits of the BB solution is the way it converges your comms no matter how you want to communicate. And one of the horrid things about the PockePC solution is how it separates everthing into folders you have to hunt around.

The Zen theme as-is compromises this BB uniqueness. Just such a shame I like everything else about the Zen theme.

I would also love it if Zen would display all e-mail, phone and SMS messages on the Home Screen. Its not a matter of being too lazy to hit a keystroke, it is a matter of wanting a visual notification whenever I get a communication, no matter which format. I sometimes forget to check the SMS for hours.

... would also save an icon space from having both icons visible.
