so about 2 months ago my friend passed me my phone and it just so happened to land in my cup of root beer in my lap and i took it out right away and dried it in rice over night and it seemed to work fine.. never had any problems but the water damage sticker is half red half white... Last night my phones screen went all sorts of colors and i took it in and they told me to do the update and it would work again which was not true. so i called rogers and they are sending me a new one but said if theres any signs of external damage or water damage the warrenty is voided.... do you think they'd still make me pay even though the screen thing is a technical difficulty completely unrelated to the water damage? :(

You most likely will have to pay.

1 day is not long enough. You need 4 to 5 days to fully extract all of the moisture.

well it wasnt fully submerged it was just the keys

That's usually enough moisture contact to be a problem.
