Why don't the names of people in my address book show up?
For the first few weeks after I got my BB 7290, when someone who was in my address book called, their name showed up in the caller id. Now just the number shows up but not the name. Is there a setting someplace that I turned off? Thanks!
just wondering if anybody has additional insight to this problem. I too have a 7520 and the same problem occurs every and I do mean every time I turn off the device, perform a soft/hard reset. I have wiped the device completely using the javaloader utility and reloaded the OS. I performaed a PIM sync w/Outlook 2003 and of course everything worked as expected until I performed a soft reset. I'm planning on taking this to a service center on Monday to send in for a replacement, just wanted to see if anybody else has had this problem and if it was fixable without loosing my bb for a few days.
Have you locked the BB and enabled content encryption? If so, when someone calls and the BB is locked, it does not display the name of the calling party, only the phone number (since the content is still encrypted and, thus, protected).
Just a thought.
Chris
yes the BB has password enabled and content encryption enabled, but the problem occurs when the BB is unlocked and when I place a call or receive a call from someone already in my addressbook.
okay, I'm fighting the possibility of loosing my all-important BB for a few days so I started playing with some things. It looks like the problem stems from enabling content encryption. When I disable content encryption then perform a soft-reset everythings works fine. Another difference I notice when doing this is the amount of time it takes to perform a soft-reset. With content encryption enabled, the device takes 60-120 seconds to reset. With content encryption disabled, the device takes less than 5 seconds to reset. I have tried this 3 times now (disabling content encryption, resetting, enabling content encryption resetting) with the same result. I can live without content encryption for now, but would like some insight as to the root of this problem if anyone has some insight.
