Thumbs up

Thanks for the heads up!

I'll check it out later tonight.

Now, if T-Mobile would get off their slowpoke arses and release Handheld Software 4.2, I'd be jumping for joy!

Question DST change?

Wasn't SP1 supposed to contain the fix for the Daylight Savings Time date change this year?

I'll have to research that tonight.

I thought the patch was applied on the BB itself.

I see that Device Manager 4.2 SP1 is listed seperately on this download page. Does that mean we would need to download and install both?

Actually, I can tell you right now what SP1 does, and it's really damned important, to me anyway.

It fixes the drivers for those of who have upgraded to the 64-bit version of Vista. The drivers are signed and my desktop now recognizes my device again. The previous version of 4.2 works for the 32 bit version, but NOT 64-bit.

THANK YOU RIM!!!

Default Desktop Manager vs. Device OS

According to RIM, you'll need to update the Desktop Manager only if your device is dependent on the PC's OS to update the device's time (See KB11990).

The device patches (to be released) will update the tables on the device only.

Media Manager (which will only work with the Pearl and the 8800 that is coming out,) and the switch device wizard. Also, SP1 has 64bit Windows support.

Concerning DST, IntelliSync/Synchronization with Desktop Manager is configured to update the Device Date/Time by default. I know a LOT of people who install Desktop Manager, even if they wirelessly synchronize to a BES.

I would suggest anyone who has Desktop Manager installed, no matter the version, upgrade to this version. This will fix any issues related to the DST changes.

Question, if I am running Desktop Manager ver. 4.1.1.9, and my handheld is TMO BB8700g, OS ver. 4.10.346, platform 2.0.0.143,

Can I update my DM to this 4.2, do I even need to?

Thanks.

I've heard that everyone should update as it has the DST updates. It doesn't patch your device but it's compatible with it.

Very Cool, shall do the update when I get home. The Vista thing is a big deal to me as well, since I may be using it soon.

I just put in a Vista machine (new) at home. Way more work than expected.
