Impressive, perhaps the emperor has under-estimated your skills. Actually I think there are still some VMS people around. But no matter, my checks are still coming so far...
The way I see it is that new members get the best help if they follow the instructions on what to do first. Remeber we where all new members at one point in time.

I worked on a dual VAX 11/780 at Johnson Space Center for years. It was the last majour mainframe for the Mission Operations Center for Life Sciences. It took up a huge room along with the RP-06 disk drives and tape drives. Almost hard to believe that the computing power has been eclipsed by servers that will sit on top of your desk. (Yes, I'm showing my age . . .)
DEC was the first real computer I worked on, our high school had one with five terminals for our computer lab. Maybe a MicroVAX running RT-11? I was a fan and bought their workstation (used), PDP-11 desktop based, when I was in college.
Amazing that a guy like Ken Olsen, completely missed the importance of the PC and that ultimately caused their demise. He is quotate as saying "There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home.".
By far newbies get all the attention they need here. They are rarely ignored and normally only when one chooses to become rude and obnoxious.
I would suggest you read some threads before making unjust attacks.
We're quite a friendly and greatly helpful forum.
I was the co-specialist in DEC on the NYSE. That stock alone built our firm into what it was when we sold it. DEC was the key to my success at that firm. I was there when it traded above $199 (but never got to $200), and I was there for the crash of 1987. We also had Data General (DGN), which spun off from Digital Equipment.
I would say new folks get way more attention. They are protected from most things. You should have been around in the old corey days. Then there was no respect lol
