Default eOffice now or wait for Documents to Go

Please Login to Remove!

I was looking into getting software to open, edit and organize files like word docs and pdfs. I also have a pretty complex excel spread sheet program that i would like to be able to run on my BlackBerry.

I looked at eOffice and am extremely impressed with what it says it can do. But i also heard that there will soon be Documents To Go for Blackberrys.

Is it worth waiting for Documents to go? Does anyone have eOffice? If so Do you like it?

I'm waiting for Documents To Go. I used it way back on my Treo and loved it. Considering eOffice from Dynoplex is $100 or more, I think the wait will pay off.

It depends on how bad you need it and whether you can wait or not. Only you can answer that one.

True but I guess the real question is whether Documents to Go is even worth waiting for.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Is there a third alternative?

Documents To Go was spectacular on the Palm platform, so I've got to believe they'll make a decent product for the Blackberry. I don't know of any other alternatives.

He could decide not to buy either one.

I had Documents-To-Go on a Palm and was very happy with it.

I was looking into eOffice also, and got very bad feedback on the product.

I'm going to wait. A crap product does me no good.

We're all waiting to see whether it works the same on BB as it does on the Palm. You might check the PDA Software - Palm OS Software, Windows Mobile Software, Windows Smartphone Software, Symbian UIQ Software, Symbian Series 60 Software, Symbian Series 80 Software, Java MIDP 2.0 Software - Developed By DataViz website for their spec page.

This might be available somewhere else, but is there a tentative release date?

I am also eagerly awaiting for DocumentsToGo as I have used it on the Palm. However the dataviz site states that the BB DocumentsToGo will be using something called 'In Tact Technology' that I fear might mimic the server based processing that eOffice uses. If so this would not be the same functionality as they have on the Palm/PocketPC platforms. Just a guess on my part however.

The InTact Technology has been on the Palm and WM versions for a while now, it just keeps all formatting intact. It works very well.
Personally, Docs to Go has been on every Palm or WM device I have ever owned (a lot), it is a great piece of software. eOffice has always seemed really slow to me and difficult to use.
Right now I use Simprit's GridMagic for Excel spreadsheets and have been very pleased with it. I noticed that just yesterday the opened up a "community" version for free. Maybe that is a good place to start until Docs to Go arrives in a few months. GridMagic for BlackBerry - Excel Compatible BlackBerry Spreadsheet

I stand corrected. I hope they can get Docs To Go to work on a BB the same way it works on the other platforms.
