Default Sprint: BlackBerry OS 4.5 Coming Next Month?

News story from AppScout

Quote:
Now that T-Mobile has finally let Blackberry OS 4.5 out of the bag, I decided to ask the other major carriers when they're going to let BlackBerry owners get some of that HTML-emailing, Microsoft Word-editing goodness.

According to Sprint, their Blackberry Curve 8330 and Pearl 8130 will get OS 4.5 next month. They'll upgrade the 8703e and 8830 within the next few months. AT&T says OS 4.5 is coming "later this year." Verizon Wireless declined to say when they'll be supporting OS 4.5, but they say it's coming.
Guess we'll see.

IMO, this doesn't really matter because we can always install OS 4.5 from another carrier with no problems. What I'm really hoping for is some sort of upgrade that allows for MMS...

Would putting a 4.5 from another carrier in any way void a warranty? Logically, the answer seems like it would be yes since the original carrier did not provide the OS. Of course, I could be dead wrong.

Since it is removable and undoable, any software modifications cannot void a warranty.

Most likely the sd card problem. You need to copy the stuff
off your card to the computer, reformat the card and
reinstall the stuff from backup.

I have a Sprint BlackberryCurve 8330 (red) the current version op on that is 4.3.0.127 . on the sprint support center, I found there are 2 upgrades one for the 4.3.0.198 and another for 4.3.0.203. My BB is only 3 weeks old, and Im wondering if I should go ahead and download both these 2 updates, or should I wait for the newer version 4.5 coming up next month?

The most current version for the 8330 is OS 4.5.0.89 listed in the 8330 forum. Its another carriers OS but that doesn't really matter and if you follow the directions in the sticky it installs fine. You do not need to install every update in between that for it to work either, just go with one and that's it.
If you want to install that update is up to you, I did it for my 8130 without a hitch. But if you are new to BBs and just not comfortable messing around with it yet I'd simply wait and see what happens with Sprint's official OS. The big updates for 4.5 is Documents to Go, HTML email, and big fixes. If everything is running smoothly for you, you don't care about HTML email just yet and you don't wanna mess with your BB too much just yet I suggest waiting.
