Great forum, have learned much here so thank you everyone in advance!

My problem: Today I went to upgrade my 8100...during the install my computer crashed. After restoring windows, Desktop Manager will no longer detect the phone. I followed the JL Cmder tutorial to no avail, but was able to run Desktop Manager from the command line by pulling and restoring the battery until the USB-Pin:Unknown option appears.

After this, the software was able to complete the "Load JVM and system software" step but errors out once it gets to "Wait for device initialization" with the error "Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation." Thank you in advance for any help or tips. Let me know if I can clarify anything. Thanks again for the forum!

Welcome to BB Forums - sorry you had this problem during an upgrade.

There is a Research in Motion note out that this may happen when you are pluuged into a USB hub, or when the device isn't getting enough power through the USB.

Try plugging the BB directly into a PC or laptop and not through a hub, or another USB port.

I muddled my way through it and finally reinstalled the phone OS and Desktop Manager on my computer, relaunched everything and it detected and reprogrammed smoothly. Thread can be locked.
