Default What exactly is this icon?

Please Login to Remove!

I thought I had posted this question already but it seems to have gone missing.

What is this icon exactly? Not too sure when it first came on, but I never seen this before and I can't figure it out!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have BlackBerry Messenger onboard? Looks like you may have messages in BBM.

I thought it was Messenger, but I only have 3 contacts on BB Messenger and no new messages.

In MSN messenger, i am not even logged in.
Yahoo messenger, i have one contact and she never logged in recently.
I rourtinely use AIM and Google Talk but I dont have any unread messages there either... That is why I am so befuddled.

If you haven't already, check in your Saved Messages folder.

Oh ho! That is why it looked so familiar! Yes, I do have MySpace on there, I actually didn't think 3rd parties could put icons there, but now I know they can.

Thank you! This was driving me bonkers!

Facebook throws a notification icon up there too apparently. A friend of mine had the app on his phone and forgot that he did. We had a hell of a time figuring out what the icon was until I looked in his download folder and saw the new message asterisk on the Facebook app icon in there.

Yeah MySpace and MSN Messenger do look a lot alike, but there was no asterisk next to it for some reason. I also hardly ever use it, one of my friends has a blog on it and only way for me to read it was to become her friend.

She was very active during the election but now, not so much and totally forgot about MySpace even being there.

Looks like Myspace from my end as well. The Facebook icons will have a blue "F" with a number on it in your unread messages display area as well.

So, how do you get rid of this icon? I've gone into MySpace and I can't figure out where the notification is coming from.
