Default Verizon's big deal loyalty offer

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a call from Verizon. It seems that I am a VIP and for $149.00 (and 2 years) I can upgrade my 8830 to a storm. I am very tempted but i have been holding off due to the battery reset and OS reboot issues.

Anyone have any info on when a new release will be out to solve these issues? I use mine for business and I can't be fooling around with buggy issues, but the Storm is very appealing.

Thanks
Chuck

I don't use mine for business, but I love my Storm. Whether it is suited for heavy business use is still kind of up in the air, however there's supposedly an OS update due out any day now, and from what I've seen with the beta OS's, this phone is constantly being improved by leaps and bounds.

Unlike the iPhone, it's apparent that the Storm focuses on business use first and pretty/flashy/fun uses second, though it definitely has potential to be a great "toy." The application development for the Storm has been very slow to roll out, however there are a number of useful apps and there's sure to be more to come.

That shouldn't have happened, you either get the NE2 price or corporate price, you can't combine the two.

Exactly what I was thinking being that I just went through this the other day. It made more sense for me to get the NE2 price.

I got mine for $149 with a 2 year contract. $199 - $50 instant rebate.

I was one of the fools who waited in line on the release date and the store ran out of units. A few of us raised a little hell and they allowed us to pre-purchase the unit with the instant rebate and FEDEX'ed us the unit 3 days later.

*****ing alway pays off.

That's what my offer is and my current contract isn't up until 2010 so I am really only adding one year.

Anyway, back to the subject, We saw it in Colorado at Christmas time and the new ones didn't seem to have the keyboard problems at the edge that I heard about early on.

I am concerned about the "hover". If you have big fingers it seems to highlight the key next to the one you want. I suppose I can master that one.

Thanks for the help.

I paid $99 as a regular upgrade. We're not a special account, just a business account.

That's what happened to me, but I contacted a member here on the forums that's a manager in a Chicago store. He gave me the NE2 and a instant rebate. My phone was delayed a bit so I had to wait a few days. I got it right before Thanksgiving.

It's funny how everyone wants a new gadget or phone when it first comes out knowing that the high possibilities for glitches, bugs, etc. Well, at least I had quite a few people come by my desk at work asking me "hey, is that the new BlackBerry Storm?"....lol

Consider yourself lucky, its strictly one deal or the other. Wish I knew what store in PA you got that deal.

When we look up a corporate discount, you don't get a certain percentage. Your employer is classified by how many lines of service that company has, and there is a certain price fixed for that bracket. For instance, Bayer has its headquarters here in Pittsburgh, and they fall in the 10,000 lines plus bracket, which is the highest. So the way it's supposed to work is, when you upgrade your phone, you get whatever the better price is, either the corporate price or the store deal plus NE2 if you qualify.
