The Official 8830 on Verizon (and others) software fix requests...
Please Login to Remove!
So since I would guess the folks at blackberry probably read these forums for feedback, I wanted to create a single list of all bugs or simple fixes that the customers want.
The first ones I can think of are:
With Verizon:
*enable GPS for all apps (probably wont happen)
*enable 802.11 - verizon told me this was diasbled for our own security ..... seems shady to me...
All 8830's:
*ringer volume! I miss almost every call since I can never even hear it ring.
*the ability to remove or rename profiles that come with the phone.
I am sure there are many others so post what ya want, and maybe it will happen..... some day.

Wirelessly posted (8800: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8310/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)
Another thread on tbese issues?
The GPS issue is not a bug. And so believe me RIM does know about the ringer volume matter, as they have even posted a KB article on it.

I know that.... verizon told me this was only to "protect us". F-that...Ill take my changes, I would rather have the option. Like the GPS, this is something probably out of BB, but a decision by Verizon.

then these issues have been addressed in many threads on the boards. you wont get any help changing verizon here, the only ones that can change verizon, is verizon itself. its better to take the complaints up with them. Also this has taken on the flavor of almost a rant/rave

WiFi is not disabled on the 8830; IT DOES NOT EXIST ON ANY 8830. If you want WiFi, change carriers and buy an 8820.

8830, Ringer Volume
I suggest we VZW, 8830 users, turn in the phones "for cause"; that being the almost inaudible ringer volume. Either they provide a new phone, with corrected volume (if it exists) or (I) will cancel the service; again, for cause.
Screw them; like this is so special that we get lied to; every day?

Are you going to pay my early term fee if I turn in my phone?

The words "FOR CAUSE" mean they have defaulted in their responsibility. Believe me, you can do it.

They haven't defaulted. You knew when you bought the phone and signed up with Verizon service that the GPS was locked and the phone doesn't have wifi. There are no statements anywhere from Verizon that the ringer volume will meet a certain decibel level. I've fixed mine and it took me about five minutes. I'd rather spend five minutes fixing than turning in my phone that I paid $200 for, and paying a $200 termination fee "for cause." But you go right ahead. Good luck with that.

Plenty of ideas here:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ring-ring.html
You can use the media manager in bb desktop manager, import some ringers, use the fix tool to increase the gain and load onto your media card. Really makes a huge difference. Now I can hear it in my car, with the windows open and the radio on.

Thanks, got it. Was hoping for a proper fix, not a band-aid solution but this will have to do for now, still means you can't use the default sounds

i guess no horse is too dead to beat...
i get my ringtones from myxer tones and u can select to get them loud, which I have done. My version of the Steeler polka can wake the dead.
The ring tones should not be an issue...

who wants the default tunes anyway they are lame and I delete them for memory space anyway.
And to add there is no "cause" to anything you are complaining about. So good luck getting out of the contract with out paying.
