Default BlackBerry Bold 9780 does not like my wifi router since I installed repeater

Please Login to Remove!

I am testing a same SSID repeater for a customer and everything so far works fine. My laptops connect to my original hub and the repeater fine, as does my Kindle. But my Blackberry will connect to the hub and / or repeater but will not show any web pages.

I have tried deleting the saved wireless network and reinstalling the latest system software on the Blackberry. I have tried restarting the hub and the repeater.

Seems my SSID is now an internet no go area and I am worried that my customer will have the same issue.

Its a TP-LINK TL-WA73ORE repeating off a BT HUB 2.0A.

All help gratefully received.

best wishes

I have experienced this before, and i've found it to be an issue with trying to use the same SSID on home WLAN products. I've never been able to run any diagnostic tools to determine why using the same SSID works in enterprise products but not in home products. My best guess has always been that it is a routing issue, but in all of my messing with it, I just can't make it work right. I would suggest using two SSIDs and ensure each client has them set up, or change to enterprise APs like the Cisco 1142.

Thanks for the reply. I have switched off the repeater and still note that my Blackberry cannot connect to the original hub.

Also, what is "enterprise product" and "home product"? Windows? Hub type? Security type?

Just wanted to add that I solved this, somehow.

To get the repeater to work I changed my router IP from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.1.253

Now Blackberry works as before. Will try changing the IP of the repeater to see if it will work as a repeater via the Blackberry and post results.

I don't know why changing the IP of the router back to its original made a difference. I reset all the wifi stuff (deleted saved networks) many times and I figure the IP address of the router would be deleted as well.

Anyway, no idea why it works but it does.

What's the IP on the router? The repeater? What's the default gateway IP for the subnet? Are all the subnet masks the same?

Does the repeater act as a dhcp server? Or only the primary router? If the repeater offers ip addresses, do the ranges overlap?

All these need to be planned carefully for multiple ap/routers to coexist.
