Default Alarm via Folder

Please Login to Remove!

I use my BB (Curve) for work and need to know how to make it vibrate for certain emails. My BB is sync'd with Exchange at my work and I want it to vibrate when I get certain operationally critical emails.

What I was hoping is that I could set up a Rule in Exchange for the critical emails to go into a given Exchange folder and then have that kick off a vibrate in my Blackberry. Is that possible?

Any ideas are much appreciated. If you can give me the buzzwords to look that up, I'll be glad to read on it. I just didn't have much luck in Google.

I don't know about alerting on folders. I think you can alert with a custom ringtone/alert if the messages come from unique email addresses.

I posted this recently about software I use for this:

Rather than changing profiles, I
use Message Alerts on my Storm
2: it lets me schedule what sorts
of alerts I get based on rules I
set up. It works on email, pin,
sms, and phone.

It has a temporary mute option -
vibrate only for x minutes, then
go back to noisy mode
automagically. I use it for
meetings, and don't worry about
forgetting to reset it.

I have mine set to vibrate only
after 8:00 in the evening and go
completely silent after 11:00,
then back to full-on noisy mode
after 8:30 in the morning.

In addition, a call from any of my
brothers' phone numbers will ring
until 11:00, and a call from any of
my wife's numbers will ring at any
hour. And in an emergency, if
anyone "pages" me through voice
mail, it alerts regardless of hour.
It's very flexible. (Sorry if I'm
sounding like an ad. I'm not
affiliated in any way, I just like
the software and want to see it
continue to be supported.)

So you're talking about Message Alerts by Web Messenger

Yes. It's a very flexible way to manage alerts. I first got it ages ago when they took my cell phone and pager away and gave me the BB, and I needed to more precisely manage how people (and system messages) got in touch with me after hours.
