Default OS: 8800 4.5.0.195/4.5.0.132 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.195 (Multilanguage)
Contains English, from TIM Italy.
This will load on any carrier's 8800 model by following the instructions below.

Package Version: 4.5.0.195
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.132
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.97
  • File name: 8800M_PBr4.5.0_rel195_PL2.7.0.97_A4.5.0.132_TIM_It aly.exe
  • File size: 88.3MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...190CAAD5802983

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8800:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.

2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."

If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS can be found here:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ast-asian.html

Thanks, Penpower.

Nice - downloading now.

Wonder if this is significantly different from .124 - which has been running very smoothly for me lately. So much so that I'm hesitant to jump on board with another version...

Is the software platform really 2.7xxxx? Is that not a downgrade. I currently have OS 4.2 with platform 3.0...? Sorry, I'm relatively new to this and not sure of the relation between os and software platform...

I think I somewhat answered my own question... looks like TIM does not carry the 8830, so it could be model specific?

Yes. All each OS is sub-model specific.

This thread discusses the 8800 ONLY. There are other OS threads for the 8820 and 8830.

I cannot download it to my PC. I get a "Error reading setup initialization file" error.

Thanks, Penpower.
I had to install twice (didn't install the multi-language but English with Media) to get the Roxio Media Manager to work correctly (kept looking for a file).
Also installed new Desktop 4.7. I'm using windows Vista Home Premium. Everything loaded and is working great. Had to go in and edit some permission on certain applications that were somehow re-set to DENY when they need to be set to "ALLOW" to get the application to work.

I was having some issues with my BB and ended up deleting it - BBM made a new file for Device.xml which seemed to be device specific (or PIN specific) the one that comes with BB DM from RIM seems to be generic - but I'm in way over my head with this
