Question Shaw mail on Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone (in Canada) set up their Blackberry to receive their Shaw e-mail? For some reason I cannot integrate this account. Help would be appreciated ...

Last I checked Shaw closed access to their POP services from outside sources. This means you can not pull your POP email unless you were connected to Shaw's High Speed internet.
Shaw would only allow one or two outside contacts which RIM has many service that would pole the SHAW POP server.

I suggest looking into a "Copy Forward" solution.

I attempted it with no success. When I contacted Rogers Wireless they informed me that Shaw doesn't allow it therefore it wasn't me setting things up wrong via webclient. Go to http://manage.shaw.ca and enable forwarding that's what I did to recieve my shaw mail on my BlackBerry.

Yah shaw blocks it for consumer accounts, not for business accounts. I had to setup a forwarding rule at manage.shaw.ca

Default Shaw mail on BIS 2.0

No go for me. Don't you think RIM can figure out how to get around this.

I dont think it would be beneficial for RIM to worry about that. Sounds more like a SHAW problem to the Gecko.

Thumbs down

Yes to can do a copy forward to a [email address] account or forward to a Gmail account and pull it to the BB. But the problem is how to you reply to the emails and make it look like it came from an @shaw.ca address not a @gmail.com or @rogers.blackberry.net address???

I'm having the same problems with my new blackberry pearl. I've forwarded to my blackberry.net email address from my shaw....but there is no option to change the reply to address in my blackberry. AUGH! Anyone know of any updated solutions. I keep getting the run around with Rogers, then shaw, then rogers....

I too, set my shaw account to forward; which except for the reply-to issue mentioned above, ends up working faster than bb.net polling for it.

I believe that shaw does it by restricting IP's outside of it's own range; which is why say, you can't set up personal pop mail from at work using Outlook. Sure, you can still get it via webmail (say, while on the road) but then you "lose" that email and can't download it when you get home. Because of that, I was careful never to access my shawmail from a browser client. But having a blackberry now makes that moot.

i dont know what you guys are complaining about - my shaw.ca email works perfectly with BIS. Been using it for the past 2 years and just changed to the new 8830 with Bell last week, everything updated without any issues. And I love it.
