Default Are We All Wrong with BlackBerry 8900 Pricing?

Please Login to Remove!

I was under the impression that (with a 2-year contract extension), the 8900 was supposed to be $199. But, if you go to the site, and check the box labeled $200+, you get the placeholder for the phone. What gives?

Other phones that are more than $199 before rebates are in the < $199 area. If it's not an instant rebate, I can't do it. Well, at least, not until payday.

I was given a quote by our TMobile rep (business account) of $299 with a 2 year contract.

I ordered today. $299 up front charge for the phone with 2 year contract extension (I was eligible for an upgrade), and they send $100 mail-in rebate with the phone. I'm not a business customer. They split my $299 into the next 4 monthly bills with no added interest($75 eachX4). Express ( UPS 3 day) shipping was another $20.

Interesting. They're already doing the financing bit?

maybe if that is true, the ones who bought the 8900 early got lucky before t-mobile wised up sine it is a very popular device.

Here's what I'm clinging on to. They HAVE rolled out the financing bit for their high-end phones. People are paying more than $199, because the instant rebates are only valid after Feb. 11.

My 8900 came with a rebate form in the box and it states that purchases between 1/1/09 and 1/31/09 have until 2/28/09 to be postmarked for you to get the rebate.

I'm pretty sure the $100 rebate is still safe for those that got it a little earlier.

Mine was $199.
They took the $100 MIR off as a credit to my account when I ordered the phone.

$299 for the phone in one payment, I didn't ask for the rebate to be applied right away or for the payment to be split up so I'm not sure if I could have gotten that. Probably, never hurts to ask right?

I have been a T-Mobile subscriber for over three years and although my present contract doesn't expire until July, I was eligible for a phone upgrade.

I took a one year contract with the 8900 costing $349 less the $100 rebate for a total cost of $249 and had my payments spread over 4 months. It was a very pleasant experience with the representative that was handling my call. As always, very helpful and friendly and 99% correct in handling my situation.

Whent the csr looked up the price of the phone, she as surprised as I was that T-Mobile was selling the phone for only $349 with a one year contract. Less the rebate, that is only $50 more than committing to a 2 year contract!

When I received my phone, it had a defect. Again, a very pleasant experience (I admit, it was the second csr that I spoke to who knew what to do), but a new replacement was sent out to me with a $10 credit to defray the cost of my sending the phone back. The replacement phone was sent out using normal delivery on the 4th and and I received it yesterday the 6th. UPS certainly has their act together!!

The only stipulation is I had to send the defective phone back by the 11th which is withing the 15 day return window.

I was also able to grandfather my old unlimited data price of $39.99 with unlimited 1000 minutes for $19.99 for a total of $59.99. I haven't found any Southern California carrier around that can beat or meet that price!

I've got that exact same bundle. LOL... I bought my first BlackBerry at just the right time, and I snagged the 1000 minutes + N/W for $19.99 on a promotion. They can pry that out of my cold, dead hands.

As far as pricing is concerned, I'm anxious, but we'll see. I'll probably have $299 in hand, but I'd rather draw out paying for it as long as possible. Not only do I need to purchase accessories for it (*is eying an aluminum case*), but I need to put some money towards my account. A BlackBerry is only as good as the network it's attached to.
