Question MAPI session - maximum of 32 objects

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

For some of my users who in general have several secretaries, I have the following error since a few days.

Event Detail: Mapi session "/O=XXXXX/OU=YYYYY/cn=Recipients/cn=ZZZZ"
exceeded the maximum of 32 objects of type "session".

Does somebody have an idea?

We have a BES server 4.0 with MS-Exchange server 2003 SP2 on W2K3 SP1

Happening to one of my Exchange Systems can't find a good reason for it. I have tried the fixes listed in MS KB 842022 Event ID 9646 is logged in the application event log of your Exchange Server 2003 computer when a client opens many MAPI sessions. Just added the registry key to one of my servers. Will see what happens. Can't figure out what's causing it though.

i've had this issue also, i have to restart the exchange information store service underservices. i find it weird also, because its not isolated to the same user on recurring basis. will try the fix in the above post when i have the time one day.

I had the same issue with 1 user today - Blackberry was able to send and receive mail normally. User was unable to access mailbox via Outlook 2003 but was able to access via OWA. Administrators were able to access mailbox via Outlook 2003, but not with a dedicated Outlook profile.

Event 9646 was logged on Exchange 2003 SP2 server - Object type was "session".

KB842022 did not resolve the issue, but I left the registry setting in place.

Resolved issue by adding:

dword value - Maximum Allowed Sessions Per User
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem

See Post by XMSRE in article
Microsoft: Exchange Server 2003 - Event 9646 Exceeded maximum objects of type "session"

Be sure to restart Exchange Mailbox Store after adding the registry key
