Okay, I will look when I get home, and post whatever details I can find. But I don't recall seeing anything on it, it obnly very small

When you state ribbon, you mean the very small connector than plugs onto the motherboard?

Exactly. It's been a while since I looked at a Bold, but for example on a Storm I'm working on, the numbers on the LCD ribbon cable are what I go by to order the right part.

On the back of the LCD screen, there is a label in the middle with a serial number, VA081108EM2 for example. Below this label, on the metal casing of the screen, there should be a number etched onto the metal, 002/004 for example. See this picture for example:

The screen I have looks exactly the same as the middle picture 002/004 with VA serial number but there is no number etched in the location indicated in red for that version.

When I see

a) how it looks physically at the top of the LCD and the shape of the gasket
b) the part number similarity (starts with VA08)
c) also lacking in actual designation in circled area

I'm going to go with version two aka 002/004.

Thanks for the pic, very illustrative of how hard it can be to identify.

Can't imagine why they need to have so many versions of an LCD screen....

Since the different screen versions are incompatible to each other it's not only the screens that are different but the controllers/circuitry on the board.

They may have commissioned more than a single manufacturer to deliver them. Or early versions may had issues. Personally i have a 002/004 that has been replaced twice for going white.

Default No identifier

I have a cracked LCD screen and cannot find out what the code is for a new screen.
Hope that someone can help me as reading emails, texts is getting annoying.

The screen has no codes on ribbons or back, the only codes are on the speaker piece

@ddgrus:
Look in the back of Ur bold, near IMEI number.
If Ur bold was made in Hungary, 002/004 is LCD U need. Madin Canada, LCD is 003/004 and the rest for bold made in Mexico. 95% correct.
Or U can take another shot and macro at connector, I'll tell U wich rev/ver of your LCD.

Default No LCD Identifier

Paloma -

No LCD identifier found on mine either, Bold was made in Mexico, does that mean I should go with 001/004?

Hi, I need to find a screen for my 9700, I tried LCD 002/111 but got a white screen with barely visible image, However, I don't know what the original LCD version should be. Is there a way to tell? The phone is made in Mexico. Thanks.

codes should be somewhere on the LCD or the ribbon cable. I do Blackberry Repair in the Washington DC area and I have yet to find a Blackberry I've taken apart and didn't find the part number of the LCD. I don't have them all memorized so I can't remember any more where the one for the 9700 is but it might be on the connector in tiny letters. Check the pictures of the spare parts from the website you're ordering from to see where the numbers are on the pictured part.

Thanks, problem is I don't have the old screen therefore can only guess what should go on there. Does the body of the phone has any reference to the LCD version that goes in there?

I just got a piece in that looks exactly like the middle one in Raptor's post (002/004) and the etching was SO faint I had to look again three times to finally see it. Great pics Raptor, for helping with my Blackberry repair.

I bought a replacement 003/004 screen as I had broken mine, and It still didn't work...

Bought it from this vendor:
ww.amazon.com/gp/product/B001W41I0Y/ref=oss_product]Amazon.com: BlackBerry Bold 9000 lcd screen samsung version(003/004): Electronics: Reviews, Prices & more

It seems as if others have had similar expereinces, so maybe it is simple the item, not the code compatability. But it is clearly a made in Canada phone (9000) and the screen according to the vedor is a 003/004 although there are no markings on the back of the screen to indicate this.

Did you check the old part number before you ordered the replacement? What does the old part say on it?
