DM's Application Loader missing all native apps
Please Login to Remove!
Everything has been working fine so far but today I finally hit a brick wall.
After a minor update of a third party app (installation of two dictionary modules from MobiSystems) all native apps disappeared from Application Loader, and only third party apps are shown:

The update was one of those EXE files that at some point automatically start DM. There was a warning on another thread not to use this feature, but to stop the execution so as to extract alx/cod files and only then proceed to Application Loader. I'm learning this the hard way.
Any ideas how to fix this issue would be appreciated. I have already reinstalled DM and Device Software (with the help of Revo Uninstaller and EasyCleaner registry cleaner), but this wasn't enough.

Update: uninstalling suspected apps didn't solve the problem:

I guess I have no choice but to reinstall the Device OS.

happens to me sometimes.
i dont know why or how i made it come back.
whether this was installing an Os, or uninstalling the OS and letting DM find the versions from the internet.
Its a trick of fiddling with different combinations.
also try rebooting the PC.
when saying OS i mean device software.

Thanks, at least I'm not alone, feels better, sort of. I rebooted the PC a few times already.

ok. well, i do have an OS loaded and can see all apps.
Are you running currently a device software that isnt for your carrier?
Trying deleting the vendor.xml file (which does reappear alot) and see if then you can see it.
If you cant find the vendor file, then perhaps thats why it isnt showing the apps.

Wow, many thanks, this indeed was the source of the problem. Now that all my native apps are back, the last question is which vendor.xml is better to use, the one from my carrier or the one from the Device OS loaded on BB. I have both Vendor.xml files, I like to backup things, just in case. According to theory it shouldn't matter, but who knows.

Another lesson learnt from all this is that you can use Loader.exe instead of Application Loader in DM for installing/uninstalling apps. Might come in handy in another emergency:

I knew it was something simple and overlooked.
Erm, I dont think it does matter.
Im not sure when its created you see.
Loader.exe will also sometimes only show the 3rd party apps, cause thats happened to me.
Loader.exe is the "base" file for the Update and Add/REmove programs part of DM.
When clicking on Application Loader in DM, loader.exe is what it opens and runs.

As it turns out restoring Vendor.xml is not a permanent solution. I'm back with only third party apps showing in both DM and Loader.exe window:
http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2...2009183101.png
http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/862/10182009210416.png
For me it's no big deal, the ability to add/remove third party apps is far more important, I have already removed all unnecessary native apps and have about 20 MB free (kind of achievement with BB 8830). Still, it would be nice to find a solution to get this issue fixed.

Just for the record, it's fixed again, yesterday I didn't really have time to experiment with this. To be exact, it's fixed only in Application Loader run directly by executing file Loader.exe. Application Loader started from inside DM still shows only third party apps.
Because, as mentioned by Midnightdraven above, Loader.exe is the core installer needed to add/remove applications, I'm not going to worry about DM.

The whole issue has something to do with Vendor.xml file, although the exact logic of the problem is not clear. You just need to keep deleting and restoring Vendor.xml until all the native apps are showing again. And even when the issue is fixed, it can reappear again after you decide to install or remove more applications.
