Are IM's sent through BBMessenger charged if you don't have a text message add-on plan as are text messages sent through ATT's SMS system or are they an included part of the BIS fee?

BBM uses data not SMS. It's included in your BlackBerry data plan.

Now I am not exactly sure but I belive that is park of the Bis plan. I think its data not a sms. Also contact att about that they will really be able to tell you.

jsconyers is correct. I can personally confirm that BB Messenger is not SMS, but rather data and included in your BES/BIS data plan. It's free with your data plan!

Totally free with your data plan, even overseas to Europe. I do it everyday.

when sending a message via blackberry messanger it is using the data from your blackberry data plan. it does not go out as a sms which can cost money if you dont have a message plan from your provider. i use my BB messanger everyday send a few hundred messages a day and i can confirm that i do not get charged for that. you can even send files from your BB messanger so enjoy it. its all part of the data plan.
