Default What to buy: another curve, a pearl, or a bold?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

This is my first thread so be gentle!

Essentially I have been using a 8310 since October and have been given the opportunity to upgrade for free again so long as I renew my contract with Vodafone uk. My options are:

A new curve: another 8310, although thsi one would be red, which shouldn't mean a lot to me, but kind of does!

An 8110: again red, which is nice, and much smaller, which would be a real bonus, although I am very used to the size of my curve already, and am very concerned about going from full qwerty to more predictive stuff (how good is it?)

A Bold: Love the OS, love the features (esp wifi and 3g), but hate the size...any ideas?

My question then is what do you guys think? Im tempted more by the red curve and pearl, just because of the size and of course the look and feel (the bold looks a little too business-like for my tastes, and very chunky). But getting the same phone i have now seems kind-of ridiculous. any ideas? any news of a curve with 'bold' features on th horizon? If so I would wait!

Hi & welcome to BBF!

I'm a pearl user and love it but I have to say I'm not keen on the red version.
The suretype is great but takes a week or two to get used to.

The red curve however is a darker red and much nicer.

As for the operating system you will be able to upgrade to the new 4.5 OS via the desktop manager software when it is out for both pearl and the curve and this is bringing out a whole raft of new features such as documents to go, spell check, video recording etc etc

The bold has OS 4.6. I do not think they will be bringing out 3G curves or pearls they will most likely just bring out new devices such as the upcoming Thunder & Storm models as well as the Bold.

Tough decision!

According to my local AT&T rep (store manager, in Phoenix metro), they are expecting the Bold to arrive "in July". That's what he said, but obviously, the date is not firm...

That said, the wait for the Bold may not be as long as some are saying...

if you can get bold you should absolutely wait for it. it will be by far the best blackberry yet. i had a pearl for about a year then switched the curve. i personally prefer the full keyboard on the curve.

I don't know about Voda, bit there are reports that Rogers expects is late JUNE.

LINK, but I still can't see Rogers getting it before AT&T... who really knows? Like I always tell my kids, "it will be here when it gets here".
