Question is your 9650 slower on 6.0

Please Login to Remove!

is your 9650 slower on 6.0 ??? I like the new version but it looks like the hardware is too big for the phone or something. On the 5.0 it was much faster , no freezing issues etc. It is just me ? or you have the same problem ?

No not at all, it is faster smoother, no memory leak, longer battery life all for me, i would have to say it is a big improvement. I resisted it because of the trays but once themes without the trays came out i was all go.

Before you do that i would consider wiping your phone and reloading the software and loading the third party apps one by one and testing to isolate what is making the phone slow.

My 9650 plays catch-up here and there, but it is SO much better than my Storm2 in regard to speed. I really don't find much in the 9650 to complain about. Feels good in the hand, keyboard is fast, screen resolution is great (I use my phone as an ebook reader and newspaper reader throughout the day), and the trackpad/pointer are perfect. The one thing I would change would be to have two or three dimmer settings on the backlight. I often read in the dark, and find the lowest backlight setting a bit too bright for my taste. Should be able to increment it to zero more gradually.

It helps to shrink the os before installing. I have no complaints with os6. The only time I get a lag is when the phone is looking for a signal. Seems that takes priority over any other processes.

When you install via Desktop Manager, uncheck boxes for anything you don't want. Just install the bare minimum, leaving out all the extras you won't use.

In addition to what Rambo said, there is John Clark's method

http://www.blackberryforums.com/blac...ee-memory.html

And there is also an application called Shrink-a-OS.

I would recommend going the route of John Clark's steps.

To improve the performance of an OTA 6.0 update you should do a reload on the OS from a desktop that includes a "wipe" of the phone and a full fresh reload of the OS from blackberry. In more than one occasion I've seen where the OTA update has not fully loaded correctly and needs to be reloaded from BBDM to operate correctly.

Usually this corrects all problems with the 6.0 OS.
