Default anyway to create sms longer than 160 characters?

Please Login to Remove!

hey guys,

I'm using a verizon 7250 right now.. theres a 160 character limit on SMS messages.. I know on other phones, if you pass 160 characters, the phone automatically creates another sms to send out, and just splits the message in 2. anyway to do this on the blackberry?

any help would be appreciated.. thanks.

I am interested in this as well. The 7250 I am troubleshooting is not splitting the messages into multiple parts. Anything after 160 characters is lost. Is this normal for the 7250?

Nope. SMS is limited to 160 characters. It's not a phone limitation, but a limitation of the technology that drives it. That's just the way it is.

From here.

From here.

i understand that an SMS itself is limited to 160 characters, but I'm talking about the ability to split a message longer than that into two messages automatically.

I would be interested in this as well. I have heard of the possible ability but have not yet had someone demonstrate.

i am interested in knowing this as well. it's quite annoying when typing a message and i end up running out of space before i finish what i'm saying, then i try to quickly send another message and continue and hope they receive them together. which usually, disaster ensues.

Default 7250 sms

Yes, sms size 'limit' is 160 characters with 7250, these last years phones have eveloved in the sense that they 'tie up' sms messages (you are billed for 2, 3 sms depending on length of msg: 161 is billed as 2 sms), and GSM carriers have 'evolved' this aspect too,
In the sense they (or their setup / network / server) understand it's 2, 3 messages and send them tied up (but billing for multiple sms),
I'd think it's a limitation of cdma carriers (or Verizon, among their other limitations), and maybe of the cdma BB too, which does actually limit sms character size, and very often gives weird characters / symbols on International sms received from GSM carriers
