Default Google Maps-How to show in Contact menu ?

Please Login to Remove!

On my BB Curve 8330, when I open Address Book and select/open a contact, on the contact menu, way at the top I see "Show on Google Maps".

On my wife's 8330, that option does not exist. Only the default "View Work Map" and "View Home Map" (which opens BB Map).

I believe I installed/setup both BB the same way !?!

BB Maps, is that the default map program? No we still want to keep/use that as well. But I still have that on my BB (where the "Show on Google Maps". ) still works.

woot woot battery pull!

FYI: in place of a battery pull you also do a reset. This is helpful when you have a case on your BB and don't want the hassle of taking over the case just to get to the battery.

Reset: press at the same time: ALT+(right)CAPS+DEL

Left thumb press ALT

Right thumb press CAPS, right index finger press DEL.

Start practicing. It's a good skill to have. Never know when you might need to do a reset on the fly. =)

BB Maps is irrelevant. I don't even have it and the Show on Google Maps option works just fine. BB Maps is just another GPS-enabled app.

1. Did it work?
2. Does ALT+(right)CAPS+DEL ever resolve anything that a battery pull can NOT resolve?
3. I would suggest you uninstall Google Maps (delete under Options-Advanced Options-Applications) and install it again.
4. If the above does NOT work, Could it be that the OS of this device needs an upgrade? Compare the 2 devices' OSs.
5. I would NOT delete BB Maps if I were u. (I like and need both),
a) you can easily get directions from one BB Address Book contact to another. Google Maps doesnt.
b) BB Maps gives you directions where ever their BB Maps exists. e.g. Google Maps exist for South African cities but you cant get any directions from these maps.
c) BB Map directions can be smsed, emailed and printed, I dont think Google Map directions can be copied, smsed, emailed and printed.
d) BB Maps alows you to copy location cordinates and give them someone to locate you on BB Maps or Google Maps. Google Maps does not give location coordinates.

I would say battery pull is more likely to resolve things the key combo press cannot. It's happened to me once before where everything on my device was absolute frozen. In that case, ALT+CAPS+DEL had no effect so it was time to go to a battery pull.

However, for most BB glitches the ALT+CAPS+DEL works great and is really convenient for those who have cases on their Curves and find it a hassle to open up everything just to do a battery pull.
