rob, if you've had a BB for a few years now and you are waiting until the 11th hour to make the decision to move to a 3G Windows Mobile device (WMD, for short) for minimal improvement on bandwidth and a lot less battery life (hence the WMD acronym), then it'd be a stupid move to make (imo). Blink an eye, bat a lash and you'll have your 3G BlackBerry in a flash (yes, I'm rhyming for some reason). Anyhow, you'll have roughly 6-7 months to wait for a 3G BlackBerry on AT&T (or atleast that's the latest from my more-often-than-not-reliable grapevine).

Also, 3G monthly service is expensive. Some could afford it, but wouldn't. Email will work just fine as will mobile web sites. Pearl buyers, kids and students, usually can't afford it. Would you pay $45/mo just for data?
That's not true. I'm here in Spain and the blackberry service cost is the same whether or not you use browsing, chatting, or just e-mail. It's a one-time monthly fee that you pay for unlimited browsing, e-mail, chatting, and downloads (via internet, and not wap). I also send a lot of pictures to my friends via e-mail. Here in Spain there is no EDGE, so that means that when I receive a call, it disconnects me (if I talk for a long time) from Google Talk, or looses it's link to the internet, so then after the call I have to re-login, which isn't a big deal, but with 3g that problem is eliminated. That would be nice to see the next blackberry have it With a full keyboard of course.
