Assuming the 8800 comes out for cingular,T-mobile first then Verizon. Which is the plan im assuming. First the GSM cariers, then CDMA.

I love Verizon. Never a dropped call and I almost always have coverage...unless I'm underground on the train....and even then sometimes I get vibrations for a message.

I bet the next VZW bberry will be a replacement for the 7130 since it is getting long in the tooth. Maybe a cdma pearl variant.

I look at Verizon's network almost like I look at the BlackBerry. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that other carriers do, however, when it comes to coverage, reliability, and speed, nothing else even comes close.

Default Verizon To Intorduce 8800

I know that Verizon will get the 8800. The problem is that it will be in March of 2008.

I like the new VZW paper bill and the 3500 minutes a month "In calling". Just want the wifi and the blackberry in one.

Why do I stick with Verizon?

Twice now when flying I have forgotten to turn my BB off. Both times I received an email and a txt over 10,000 feet above sea level. That's Verizon. That's why I'm a customer.

It all boils down to what's most important...the ability to make and receive phone calls. That's why we all have these cell phone gadgets. Everything else is the cherries, nuts, and stuff on top.

That said... Does anyone know anything about these satelite phones I've been reading about in Backpacker magazine?

Like the rest of you, I love VZW coverage, not the phones. If they got a Pearl or 8800 I'd jump on it. What's the word? Next spring? I guess I can wait....

I agree with everyone. Verizon is extremely reliable and has great service but they just lack the drive to be the first ones to receive cool cellular devices. Yes they are the only ones to have the Motorola Q, but the Q is nothing special. If you look at variety of phone options that t-mobile and cingular has it blows verizon away. It is also frustrating they get certain phones 1 yr later then everyone else. So we ask we verizon get the 8800? They will but a year after it comes out. That is just the way verizon is. Some times you need to make sacrifices. As verizon customers we sacrifice phones coming out later for great service everywhere.

You get what you pay for. Their pricing structure takes into account billions of dollars of capital investment in network systems. VW's capital investment far exceeds any other carrier.

So - besides the general speculation & "who has a bigger - I mean better - network", is there anyone with some sort of inside knowledge, rumor, etc as to when the 8800 will come out for Verizon or any new BB for VZW?

Thanks

Like James Earl Jones said.... Your Cell Phone is only as good as the network it's on... Verizon has the best nationwide network, I travel a lot and can almost always get service, when I can't, no one can from any carrier. As for the "they get the phones last" I tried T-mobile and the others, and you know what? I realized that VZW uses the other carriers as beta testers. Personally I only want to be a beta tester if the service and equipment is free....

Not true. You get 24hr support with Cingular. After 10pm, it's called "After Hours Support" and it's free. I have used it many times and any joe can use it.

I travel also and I have yet to have a dropped call. I have not had less than 2 bars of signal strength, since I can't remember when.

Just last week I went to a conference with a coworker who uses Vzw and she had NO coverage in the conference center, I had 5/5 bars. This is in the middle of downtown.

Another coworker and I take coffee breaks in the basement of the building we work in. He can't get data or voice with his Vzw phone, again, I get 4/5 bars consistently.

My inlaws use Vzw and EVERY SINGLE time they call us from their cell phones, they are so unbareably difficult to understand with all of the breaking up that goes on!

Lastly, Verizon had a phone known as "The Chocolate" which has to be the world's q.u.e.e.r.e.s.t name EVER!

I guess my experience has been different than yours, which is why I use Cingular and you use Vzw. It's all good.

I have Cingular as my primary carrier with the BB, but I also have Verizon as a backup when Cing doesn't have a signal. It happens frequently when I am in the hills of NH and VT. Other than that, I am very happy with Cingular.

I'd love to use Verizon. But since they use technology which is rarely used outside of North America, I can't...

I was happy with Verizon's coverage and voice quality, but I was just getting tired of their overpriced BB plan and the speed at which they got new devices. Therefore I made the switch to T-Mobile.

I can tether my BB to my laptop and get high speed internet access.
