Default GPS or WiFi? Which do prefer?

Please Login to Remove!

Since the Curve 8310 will have GPS and the 8320 has WiFi...which version would you choose?

Obviously we would want both, but it doesn't look like we're getting that anytime soon unless you get the 8820.

T-Mobile will come out with the 8320 for the WiFi (Hotspot) --- but I don't personally think I'll use that--so GPS looks more appealing (I'm hoping an unlocked version will pop up on ebay sometime soon).

What do you guys think?

GPS
I use GPS to both find addresses and to track my routes while hiking. Wifi other than for voip and Canadian Data alternative seems like a waste of battery and money.

What do you mean by Canadian Data alternative?

The Canadian Cell companies have really high prices for data, they can use wifi data rather than the expensive cell network data.

WiFi - you can always connect a BT GPS unit. You can't hook up an external WiFi card (at least not yet) and use it for UMA.

tough one. Although I won't use both as much most likely, I still think (as crazy as it sounds) I'll use GPS more often. It's just so useful and handy!

I won't be using the @home service, but wifi sounds sweet if you can use it for data.

EDGE speed has been killing me lately. I have an EV-DO bb as well, not a HUGE difference but its starting to become a nusiance cause i'm starting to use the browser even more. Plus I just got blackberry maps and damn does it take forever.

I can still live without both. But GPS is much more appealing to me. But I would have to slide more towards GPS, its a lot more useful for me even though I only ride motorcycles. It comes in handy.

As a pearl owner, Wifi wouldnt do much for me with this tiny screen anyhow. Plus, the browser still isnt good enough. GPS would be much more useful.

I looove my GPS. I get lost in my closet, so gps has been a lifesaver. I would buy wifi BB's over gps IF I could get wifi BB's without a service contract (for my less mobile users)

Added "Neither."

I'd like wifi since I can add GPS with a BT puck when I need it. I have been a hotel room on the back side of many hotels and had little or no signal in my room. It would be nice to use as a backup and when travelling internationally would save much $$$.

the wifi killing your battery is going to be a big factor for me....if the battery remains solid---then maybe i would reconsider---right now im still partial towards GPS.

Solution: Extended battery from Seidio. It should be out for the 8300 (assuming it will work in the 8320) in the coming weeks.

I realy want both. It's hard to believe that we are even willing to accept one or the other. I love my 8800 and use every feature. Wifi would only make me faster.

having WiFi would be great for anyone on a college campus or living in an area with a wireless network. some cities are going to blanket the entire city with a free (or very low cost) wireless network.

WiFi for me. I have GPS in all my cars and travel a lot internationally where WiFi can help the expensive data plans.

Good point...those with WiFi free all over a city would definitely support the case for WiFi.
