hey all

i was wondering if i could get some input....
i am thinking of going to the BB 8330...i currently have the instinct
using the sprint $99 simply everything plan.
will i have to pay any extra, and is it worth upgrading?

i had an i7100 many moons ago and was really happy with it....work changed so i got rid of it.

any input would be appreciated

8330 is a solid device.

What do you need the device to do? That will determine if the 8330 is right for you

If calendar appts are important to you, then go with the BB. The Instinct cannot sync the calendar, which just baffles me.

You can get a $99 everything plan that includes BIS for BlackBerry, so should be all set with that.

what is bis?

BIS = BlackBerry Internet Service. Basically is personal-only email, as in, not connected to a company BlackBerry server (which is BES - BlackBerry Enterprise Server).

plus some of the business apps....

i like the calender sync

so i guess its the 8330 for me....

I too had the 7100 then work dropped it the I got the Rumor. I am now back with BB and have the 8330. I personally am in love with it. It totally blows away the 7100 (which that too I was in love with). Steve

I received a 7100i from work and initially was ambivalent towards it, and soon came to find it an important aid to my daily tasks. In August, I upgraded to a 8330, and remain fascinated with everything it does, and does well. It has become an valued assistant to me. Besides being fun. I would recommend the Curve to anyone.

O.M.G. i had the instinct for approx. 8 hours before I called sprint and told them they could have it back.. when i saw the calendar(i had my 8830 then) i was OFFENDED! the fact that i was led to believe it was a "touch" smartphone ticked me off too! lol but its okay now cause i got rid of that dreadful phone and me and my curve are just going with the flow...hanging out...having fun lol

I have the 8330 on Sprint, and wound up going with a data/message/talk share plan (need something for DH to use too) that has 1500 minutes. For the two of us it's $7 per month more than the single everything plan, and it includes the BIS as well as using the phone as a tethered modem, which I need to do for work every so often.

If you need a two line account, look into it.

I was on the Palm for a long time and then switched to the dark side of BB. I started with the Pearl, then the World Phone, and now the Curve, and as with the other posters, I love it. I was looking at the Storm but I really think I like this phone too much! It does everything I need with email, the outlook sync, reminders, voice memos I could go on and on. It is a very stable and reliable friend!

As for chatting, I can tell you from experience get the JiveTalk by Beejive program. It is by far the best chat program that I have used. I use it for Yahoo, ICQ, Aim, and if I had all the other accounts I could use it there too. Get the personal license, it is a bit cheaper, but stays with you forever.
