Question TalkLock no longer FREE?

Please Login to Remove!

I upgraded the OS on from BB Storm from .106, to .122 last night. I kept a list of items (by URL) in a .txt file on my computer, so I can remember all what to reinstall on the BB.

Anyway, I noticed that there is now a fee to purchase TalkLock, when once upon a time it was FREE!

Any idea's of any other FREE software like TalkLock? As im missing it already!

I find it incomprehensible that the OS doesn't provide a built in feature to make such an add-on superfluous. Hasn't RIM heard of a PROXIMITY SENSOR??? Hello, RIM? Earth to RIM--this is just another in a long list of shortcomings of the Storm.

I also updated to .122 a couple of weeks ago, and used to run TalkLock as well. I had read in the change logs on .113 that they had fixed some of the problems associated with accidentally hitting the mute button during a phone call, so decided to remove it and give it a try. It appears to me that they did make changes because I even tried bumping it against my face while on a call and couldn't get the mute to engage (though I did switch it to speaker phone once). I've been using it the last couple of weeks and have had almost no problems with it, so you might want to just give it a try w/o and see how it works for you (I figure the less extra software running the better).

I've remapped my left convenience key for StormLock. I had TalkLock and sorta liked it. I wanted to love it. Eventually I may go back to it but now that they are charging for it I'm going to look at other options.

Sorry, that was StormSlider. Not StormLock. Find it here.

A major reason that may cause me to launch this thing on eBay some day is the following scenario: you can be speaking softly to someone in a private conversation while you're at a client, in your own office, or anywhere and the thing will switch to high-volume speakerphone mode. The person on the other end of the phone will keep running their mouth while you search for a quick way to kill the speaker without hanging up. I generally end up hanging up.

Not sure where you saw it free on talklock's web site. I saw a reference to appworld for $2.99. No reference to free.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Storm)

Same thing happened when I updated to .122, however I felt TalkLock is worth $3 and purchased it from App World. This company made a good product, they deserved to be paid for it.

$3? Skip Starbucks for a day and save $2 while getting your application. :D

No. At least I didn't.

I've been backing up my 3rd party apps for a while now... Talklock re-loads just fine via desktop manager onto my Storm after upgrade.

My "Talklock" didn't re-load, but maybe it's because I'm using a MAC? Anyone run into issues loading everything back up and even upgrading to the latest O.S. using a MAC? That is the main reason why I'm still stuck on .75

I got an email from Cellavant over the weekend...

Since I signed up for the Talklock Beta, they sent me a $3 off discount code (good for 30 days) towards purchase of their new product SwipeLock which includes all the features of TalkLock, plus a few extras.

I'm considering it... they have a 3 day trial version, so I might check it out.
