I get a lot of scamsters emailing me stating that they're gonna report me if I don't send them their item. I don't even sell on ebay.

Yeah, gotta love the "ebay" emails I get asking me to verify my information or my account will be closed. And the email is sent to an email address I don't even use on ebay...lol

I am very careful when I buy or sell on eBay, or any online auction. I research, research, research. Things I take into consideration are the members feedback rating, how long they have been a member, what their seller/buyer ratio is, what items they have sold in the past (ie if books has been all they have bid on or sold, then all of a sudden have an electronic item i get suspicious), and where they are located (US, outside US). Also to know when an iten is going to be released helps like for the 8800 on the 21st and some guy is selling it way before.....if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and smells like a duck it probably is a duck. Caveat Emptor

eBay: Brand New Blackberry 8800 unlocked (item 220083254814 end time Feb-19-07 08:33:57 PST)

He has got to be using turbo lister as he has 50 tiems for sale all at $50!

Exclamation

This was a QA on one of the auctions:

Quote:
Q: Do you sell the Blackberry 8800 now (without the need to bid for it) and if so how much is it please? I assume the phone is in stock. Am I right?
Feb-13-07
A: I only have one at the moment and that is the one up for auction.

What make me mad is this jerks unending supply of highjacked accounts. There must still be alot of people out there that will type their user name and password into any URL the scammer posts for you.

While I understand what you're saying, can you fault the guy for people bidding that much for a Blackberry? I mean they're paying the guy..........Not saying I agree with it.

Take the approval ratings with grain of salt for any auction. Some of these scammers use shills to increase their approval ratings. One way is they will purposely sell low-cost items to other buyers who then give them a positive rating. Once they've built up their "positive rating", they then move on to selling bigger ticket items which is where they start screwing people.

Don't get me wrong, most sellers on eBay are legitimate, but definitely do your research.

I agree untjoker. He can't control the amount someone is willing to pay but he indicates in his QA that he has (1) on hand. I am sure RIM, Cingular, and Rogers would be very surprised if he did. While eBay does allow pre-sale:

Quote:
Pre-sale listings are those that describe items for sale that are not in the control or possession of the seller at the time of the listing. These listings generally consist of items that are sold in advance of a delivery date to the public.

eBay permits Pre-sale listings only on a limited basis. The seller must guarantee that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the date of purchase (i.e., the day the listing ends or the date the item is purchased from a store front listing). The seller must also clearly indicate within the listing the fact that the item is a pre-sale item with a delivery date that indicates the item will be shipped by the 30th day from the end date of the listing. Additionally, this text must be no less than the default font size of the eBay Sell-Your-Item form. Currently, the default font size is HTML font size 3.
He is not advising the buyer of this. He is infering that he has possession of the item he is selling.

This is true. You can have cases of "sellers" and "buyers" inflating their positive rating %.

Good lord it's 30 days? I'm no expert on preselling but that is a HUGE window to make good on an auction LOL. I'd be pissed if I ordered something as a presell and it took 30 days to get to me
