I've got a blackberry pearl right now. Been using it for about 2 months. I love the phone, but the only thing i don't like about the email part on it is that it kinda comes through as a text message. You can't view attachments or anything with it. That is why i wanted outlook/some kind of email program to do this kind of stuff with.
You can view some attachments....pics, text docs, etc. You need the blackberry attachment service installed. It needs to be installed via the Desktop Manager.
Install Desktop Manager.
Install to your PC the OS that matches the OS on your BB.
Plug in the BB and then open Desktop Manager and run Application Loader.
Check the box that says Blackberry Attachment Service to load it onto your BB.
If you click >Options >About and post your version number (should start with 4.2...) I'll post the link to the right version for you.
I am downloading the new software now. I have 4.2, but im getting 4.2 with SP1. I can't find my cd anywhere. I'll give it a shot and let you know what happens. Thanks!
You need the 4.2 Desktop Manager but you also need the OS package that matches what's on your BB. Under Options >About what numbers come after 4.2.? They should be 4.2.0.xx What do you have in place of xx?
Plug the BB in to the computer. Run Desktop Manager and then open Application Loader. You should see the software installed on your BB along with checkboxes. One of the lines should say Blackberry Attachment Service. Is it not in there?
