Default phantom icon

Please Login to Remove!

My 8100 shows the missed call icon in the upper left x1 but there are no calls listed in the call log. How would I remove this. Does Blackberry have a system cache like the browser? Thanks for your help.

Call your BB and answer it.
That sometimes gets rid of it. It is clearly a bug and has been reported to RIM.

Just scroll to the top of the message list and "mark prior opened"

Question Phantom missed call icon

I'm having the same problem. SO I tried calling myself, the icon is still there. I also tried to find "mark prior opened" and could not find that option at all.

Any other suggestions?

i just click the green telephone button and then the red telephone button and the alert goes away.

However I also have my telephone listed in "messages", like when it tells you when you made and recieved calls inside your inbox... All in one box i like to call it.

I tried the green button/red button that you suggested, and still have the phantom icon. This is making me nuts. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some other suggestions!

a battery pull gets suggested alot, seems to fix a miriad of things, you try it yet? I had saved browser request that wouldn't go away, the hard reset fixed that.

I couldn't figure out what icon was stuck on my screen, and it turned out to be a BB Messenger request to be added to someone's contact list. I so rarely use BB Messenger that I didn't recognize the icon. I only found it when I accidentally hit the Applications button and noticed the red x on the BB Messenger app. Truely a Homer Simpson "D'oh!" moment.

Actually, I tried that first... that fixes a lot of stuff with almost every cell phone I've owned, not just the BB.

Talking

Got it fixed... turns out I just called myself again and created another missed call. Then I went to the call log and found the missed calls, cleared them out and both of the missed calls (my original phantom one and the new one I sent myself) disappeared and the icon was gone.

On a similar note (maybe): When my Phone List View is set to "Call Log" I get a different list then when it is set to "Most Recent". Currently the "most recent" has approx. 20 listed, whereas the "Call Log" only has 3! Any idea what gives?

By the way, I have the phantom icon too. I'm about to call myself to see if that gets rid of it (the green-red button combo didn't work, neither did the "mark previous as read" trick).

Do you mean that there WAS a missed call in your log all this time?

hookup your phone to your desktop manager... goto advanced and clear out the phone log db... then it should disappear.

i just tried something that most people might not want to do but it worked for me. I just wiped the phone clean and reloaded it with the backup i did right before i wiped it. the icon is now gone. I guess i'll see if it happens again because i'm not going to do this everytime this happens. Hope this helps.

I posted this in another thread. I had the same issue with a Pearl on .42. I upgraded it to .69 and the problem went away. Kind of the same thing as wiping it but got the upgrade done at the same time.
