Default BIS on Exchange?

Please Login to Remove!

We have a BES with about 250 active users, I however am not on the BES. I was out drinking with some friends and messing around and for the hell of it loaded up my BIS browser and added my company mail.

To my suprise I'm sending and receiving company e-mail fine through BIS.

What is it using to communicate? We have pop3 and imap disabled on exchange.

Is it running on owa/oma?

A pretty solid guess is POP3. Having POP3 disabled on Exchange simply means that your messages aren't accessible in an email client through the Exchange server via POP3. BIS can still get to your mailbox via POP3, bypassing Exchange altogether.

BIS supports Exchange OWA.

This is completely false.
If POP3 is not enabled on Exchange, then nothing connects to it via POP3.
The OP is using BIS thorugh OWA to get their Exchange mail.

No network administrator worth a damn would make POP3 publically available on their mail server.

And you can not "bypass Exchange". Nonsense.

I do POP3S, but then I'm self-proclaimed not worth a damn ... and I have a stomach ache; ugh.

Thanks for the responses guys, I guess I didn't realize this was possible. Anyway to change the polling times?

It looks like it's around 15 minutes but I could be wrong.

This is cool, thanks guys for the responses. Anyone got any tips to look for documentation on this?

Like when this functionality was added? BIS 2.3 or whatever it was.
