Default Anyone noticed problems with the 7290?

Please Login to Remove!

I've recently upgraded my phone from BB 7230 to the 7290 model and i noticed a def. reception difference. Places where I used to have no problems with reception on my 7230 I now get no reception or very poor. I also recently have had problems with the device randomly crashing. I was on a phone call and my device just rebooted for no reason. Anyone got any ideas?

I've found my 7290 to be very stable - are you at the latest firmware for the phone? I think the latest version is 4.0.0.198.

Nope, no problems at all. My reception increased over what my 7100T was....

Have not had a single reboot either.

I'm up to date with the latest firmware (4.0.0.198). It does not crash in any particular pattern either and only about once a week. What about reception issues? I would assume that it would get better reception going to a quad band.

My reception is fine - certainly no worse than my 7230.

Mine works like a champ...better than my previous Motorolas. I think I'm on 4.0.0.219.

My 7290 is perfect too. No reception problems. As good as the 7230 and better than the 7100t. This phone sounds good enough to replace my landline.

Are you using a bluetooth headset? Some BT headsets will cause the bb to reset. I had this problem with an HBH-300 and a 7250....

Sounds like your problem has something to do with the crashing. My 7290 has never crashed. It is so utterly stable that I doubt that it ever will.

I do use a bluetooth headset, I'll look into that.

Thanks Jase.

I recently upgraded to the 7290 from the 6230.

I have experienced poorer reception as well, also the phone crashes randomly.
When the phone crashes, I have to take out the battery to get it to power on again. It takes about 8 minutes for the phone to come back to the main screen (I get an hourglass for the wait time). btw, battery is fully charged.

My s/w is also way newer that the previous posts (being may '06 !)

My experience with the 7290 has not been great. I got it primarily for the bluetooth, which seems to work, aside from complaints about quality of the voice, however I dont know if that has to do with the bluetooth headset (Scala500).

I cant deal with the crashes, and am talking to T-Mobile now...

Hmm - a thread that was dead for 9 months is now awake. The posts were May '05 (not May '06).

Do you have any third party applications installed?
What version of the software are you using?
Are you using BES or BIS?

Many of us found the 7290 to be amazingly stable. Perhaps you have a faulty one, or some bad software. Is this a new BlackBerry?

I think if you just got that 7290 you should take it back. No one has had troubles like you report.

Ive just recently switched from the 7100g to the 7290, what a difference. People can hear me again and I can her them. Also my internet connections is a 100% times better. Trying to figure out what to do with the 7100g, I always guess there is ebay

Work just upgraded me today from a godawful 6700 series to a 7290 hand-me-down from my boss (she got a new 8700). So far, I absolutely love it.

It's only got 2 bars in my basement right now, though.
