Default Repeater for Emergency Operations Center

Please Login to Remove!

Need to know if anyone has dealt with installing a repeater for Cingulars coverage. We get poor reception, basically no GPRS or Edge in our Emergency operations center, and but outside can. If you have what type and where did you get it.

Thanks Tdoerr

Cellular repeaters are pretty straightforward devices. At the risk of over simplifying, it's a three part solution:

1) external antenna mounted in an area with a good strong signal
2) a signal amplifier to boost the signal within a specific range of frequencies
3) one or more internal antennae to rebroadcast the amplified signal

I've had some experience with the PowerMax line of products and been quite pleased; they are relatively simple to setup and operate: http://www.digitalantenna.com/

Wilson Electronics is also a well established name for this type of product: http://www.wilsonelectronics.com/

Default Site Survery

Cingular is suppose to come site survey our center. Not holding my breath found a few repeaters any where from 400 to 3,000 a piece. Higher end is suppose to support 200 users, and 20000 square feet.

Does anyone remember the company who was supposed to start shipping a $400 or so "home" version of a BDA? I think they currently make them for large sites like warehouses, both for GSM and CDMA. I saw the site linked to here or on hofo but can't find it now.
