Question wireless activation

Please Login to Remove!

i am trying to wireless activate some one with my exchange server and i just hangs on activation.
What can i do to get this to work?

What ports have to be open in the firewall and between exchange?

ANY help would be great.

Try restarting your Blackberry Policy Service on the BES.

Well if the message just stays there then the BES doesn't have permissions to get it out of the mailbox or the activation password has expired.

Does it happen to all users or just one only?

do you use a remote desktop connection to add users to the bes server. As stupid as it sounds if I add a user to the bes perform a wireless activation it just sits there and does notthing.

If I close the mmc on the bes and log out the activation kicks in happened for about 30 of my users.

When I tried to upgrade BES using a Remote Desktop connection the upgrade just hung. Hooked up a mouse/keyboard/monitor and ran the upgrade again and it worked fine. Maybe BES doesn't play well with Remote Desktop?

you should'nt be performing any installs /upgrades in Remote Desktop Connection. You need to be logged into the console. but adding users to the bes should be ok.

I too, add users through remote desktop for my corporation. Is there any real fact behind theory? I sometimes expierience the same and sometimes don't at all. Does anyone have any more information on why this might be happening?

No facts, you can administer your BES through RDP just fine. DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR BES THROUGH RDP! whew. there.

This is a really interesting thread.

I have several sites where the BlackBerry server is in another country so they are using RPC to connect and administer their users. I have two sites where enterprise activation fails to start but there are no errors recorded in the MAGT logs. Are other people experiencing the same issue?

I've performed every BES install and upgrade I've ever done through either PCAnywhere (4-5 times) or Remote Desktop Connection/Terminal Services-RDP (40-50 times). Never a problem for me...just make sure to connect to the server with the /console switch in Windows 2000 or check "Connect to Console" in XP's Remote Desktop app.
