Hi everyone, this is my first post and I could use some help with my unlocking my Blackberry.
Here's my situation:
My T-Mobile BlackBerry 8320 Curve was on both a data and phone plan up until last month when I quit my job. I had it for work and it was under a corporate plan. I now want to unlock it so I can use it internationally (specifically in China) with a prepaid SIM card. I didn't think of unlocking it before the service was cancelled. The current message I'm receiving is "SIM Card Rejected" and it is in SOS mode.
I called T-Mobile and asked if they could unlock it. The representative said that since the account was cancelled she does not have access to the unlock information. She said I would have to have the account open in order for me to unlock it, and I really want to avoid renewing service just to unlock it.
What can I do now? Can the manufacturer (RIM) help me unlock this device? Should I pay some money to get the unlock code from one of those third-party companies? My concern is that this might be significantly different than unlocking a number that is already in service.
Thanks for your help!
