Default T-Mobile BB data plans?

Please Login to Remove!

Looking to just get email on the BB and dont see a justification in spending $25 to get it. I called Tmobile and they said my options were a $25/$30 data plan. Is there anything cheaper?

Fwiw, Its a newer curve i guess? I dont have the options to setup a personal account on the phone, its only a BB enterprise option.

Wirelessly posted (hope is everything!)

You won't get personal email option until you have a BB data plan

Is that on all models of the curve for tmobile? Or just the newer 8320?

Nope. Won't work. As soon as you cancel the data plan, the emails will stop being sent to the phone.

All models and all carriers require a BB data plan for email and Internet. But can get by with Internet on a generic data plan. However this solution is only a poor workaround at best.

You are grandfathered in on an old rate. I have two BB - both on the old $10 per month email only plan.

You cannot get the $20 plan any more (nor the $10 plan I'm on).

I expressed my disappointment to the CSR at TMO when I found this out.

The $25 dollar plan is because it's the 19.99 unlimited BIS plan (the "old" one) PLUS 4.99 for 400 domestic SMS/MMS messages. That is the only difference. The data plan itself is not more expensive, it simply has the messaging add-on included.

Question

Just cancelled the BIS and e-mail plan. The 115.2k speed is way too slow for any serious work beyond e-mail on the road. I might as well subscribe (for the travel duration) for the wi-fi connection when the hotels don't provide free ones.

After cancellation, I can still access gmail thru the "hotspot browser" in wi-fi zone. There is no connection to any other websites. I could download the gmail mobile and installed it but the error message came back and read "the apps needs a data network connection" after i tried to run it every time.

Could anyone tell me the difference of web-based gmail access and web browsing in general?

Ok, in all seriousness, what does this have to do with the price of tea in China or this thread?

Well I had the $5.99 Tzones plan on my iphone and that worked for browsing and email but obviously wont work for BB.

Ill head into tmobile tommorow and see what my options are, but $20 isnt bad and it will be nice to have a 'decently' fast browser when not on wifi.
