You can not change the screen that appears when you restart the phone. That is burned into the firmware.

I always wondered the same thing and then i started thinking about in the old days when on the nokia's when you renamed the profile you could change the name to something else thus getting rid of the providers name and the profile name too so it would be blank or you could put you name in or something else, now what i put i cant remember i would guess something dumb seeing as i was in middle school at the time this was all the rage LOL

that's exactly what Came to my mind , I remember there was some kinda file I'd put on my Nokia and it would make the provider's name disappear

Ahhh nice to see i'm not the only one thinking about back in the day to simpler time, but i would have to say as far as right now i would think a different theme might help but since like said above its burnt into the firmware then a tweak of that is looking to be the only way

Well it does change if you unlock it and insert a SIM from another carrier.

The wallpaper does not control the initial start up (splash) screen or the carrier name.

People told me this with my razr.. but they were wrong.
Not like I condone seem editing But I've done it ;)

Not to this phone though, makes me interested to see if I can get the hacks for it.. Anyone with enough time can hack a phone. I know a guy who used to go to my school, got kicked out for hacking into the office databases.. he's put his talents into cracking phones and learning seem edits

I will agree though there is no *safe* way to change the carrier banner.
voids your warranty if they find out you did it, if there is a way to do so.

if someone has hacked the blackberry it would be all over the news in just about every country. it would be the number one headline in the tech world for the year is my guess.

Probably. But it'll happen ;)
The iPhones were hacked within weeks, with not much fuss though?

Hehe I did a little searching as far as hacks go.. found nothin yet *awww*

Way to crush my hopes there. Not like the ERI banner is a huge deal...

Very true. RIM knows its stuff...

*sigh* I was hoping. Little glimpse of hope...

You could always use white-out to cover the banner on the home screen ;)

And I'm assuming that verizon didn't just give you a phone with an irish flag instead of their name.. am I right? What did you do? Lol
