Hey guys, why so much vitriolic hatred? The guy is a great musician! He deserves his success! Don't begrudge him for it, let it inspire you towards your own accomplishments!

Using music icons to market their products is a great way for RIM to keep up with other industry titans like Apple and stay on the competitive edge of the PDA business and bring you, me and yes Mr. Mayer amazingly cool and useful new products that we all get to enjoy. Without the mainstream market they wouldn't have been able to grow to the size that they have and be able to spend such vast sums on R&D to create such incredible new devices so quickly.

So ultimately John's good fortune is also your good fortune yet probably even more so because we all know that you guys will appreciate the technology behind this device more than he will!
