Hello

An icon that looks like an envelop is displayed on my 8520 since yesterday, although no SMS and no voicemail is waiting on my carrier's servers (sorry, haven't posted enough to be allowed to include URL's).

I tried shutting down and restarting the phone, to no avail.

What does it mean, and how can I get rid of it?

Well, it could be an email!
Check ALL your messages folders.
(Messages - menu - view folders - check all)
and see if you find it.

If that doesn't work take out the battery and put it back in.

I'd recommend checking Saved Messages -- it always seems to get overlooked.

Thanks for the tip. Turned out not to be e-mail or SMS, but rather missed calls. Deleting items from this list removed the envelop icon.

As to why it's so complicated to have the BlackBerry empty this list...
