Default BES email in Europe

One of our clients wants to be able to get email on her Blackberry while she is traveling in France. Will she be able to get the mail from our corporate BES server?

Not enough info -
1. Requires GSM BB. Check which frequency bands it receives. We give our CDMA users temp GSM units (with different phone nos).
2. Check the roaming agreement between your provider and the national carriers. Check the frequency bands provided. For example: Rogers provides this info at rogers.com/roaming. Provide the user with directions to set networks manually so they only select networks with GPRS agreements.
3. Use handheld OS 4.0. OS3.7 is finicky.
4. Make sure they have a charger with the appropriate plug for French electrical sockets.

For France, the bands receivable should not be an issue but in Caribbean countries 7280s are often no good as they don't get 900MHz.

Specify type of blackberry and what carrier it is on, and you'll get an answer quickly.

I have a 7730, which works in the States (it seems more here are from the US - I'm Australia), and it worked perfectly all throughout Europe (UK, Spain, France, Italy). Change network selection to manual, scan for available networks (sometimes have to do twice), and choose one of those your service provider tells you are compatable. Incidently, I need ones with GPRS.

It then connects and works just as it does at home, all features fine. Brilliant.

Have a good trip!

Our user base travels extensively to Europe, Asia & Africa and have good coverage for voice/data almost everywhere through Cingular's roaming agreements. Mostly have 7100, 7290 handsets.
