Default Can't figure out how to fix APP error 205

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Curve 8330, Verizon. Its my wife's phone, but she gave up on it when it crashed, so now its mine
I don't know what version OS is in there, but it was not updated, and we purchased the phone in 9/09.

First of all I would like say that my main goal is to recover all the contacts and personal info off the phone prior to reinstalling the OS... which I am sure lots of people are thinking is the first solution. Also, unfortunately, the phone was never backed up. Dumb? yes. But, if you know of another quick easy way to do this, I'd love to know.

For those who would like to help:

My problems first started with JVM Error 102.

I downloaded JL_cmder and found this through the event log:

guid:0x97C9F5F641D25E5F time: Tue Feb 23 19:03:17 2010 severity:0 type:2 app:System data:CMM: verifyHash failed for net_rim_bb_browser_rendering_lib-3(541)
guid:0x97C9F5F641D25E5F time: Tue Feb 23 19:03:17 2010 severity:0 type:2 app:System data:JVM Error 102

Following instructions I found in this forum, I deleted the net_rim_bb.... file. The phone started up (slowly), and I saw a text list on a white background of all the programs that had previously been shown as icons.

I then connected the BB to the USB in order to backup the data on the phone, and then try to reinstall the OS.

A minute later the phone "crashed" and displayed App Error 205.
Several restarts later, I am not able to get past that.

JL_cmder log shows:

guid:0x97C9F5F641D25E5F time: Tue Feb 23 20:13:01 2010 severity:0 type:2 app:System data:POWER_UP

If anyone knows how to help, and can tell me what to do next, I would really appreciate it!

Data is probably gone. Or it will be when you recover/reload the OS. Do you have a current back up?

If the device is under warranty, return it for a new one.

You will need to reload the OS. Go to the yellow sticky at the top of the 8300 section and get the current OS for your device and follow the instructions given. Be patient as it can take an hour or longer.

You said you connected the device to create a backup. Did a backup file ever create? Do you have a .ipd file on your PC?
