We got our Christmas presents early this year -- back in October, when Michael and Oppitronic gave us the marvellous screen capture applications.

Thanks heaps and Best Wishes to you, too.

@Filip_PwC:

The official way to get javaloader is to download the component package from RIM:
link: BlackBerry
-download the "BlackBerry Java Development Environment Component Package v4.2" (you will have to fill out the form...)
-install the package
-you will find the javaloader then in the "C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE Component Package 4.2.0\bin" folder

If you do not want to install the package, you can extract the javaloader directly using 7zip (link: 7-Zip, cool and free zip tool anyway)

Unfortunatly RIM did not allow me to include the javaloder with my tools.

There is a new version of BBScreenShooter available. (1.40)
No new features, only some GUI cleanup.
The requesters known from BBScreenStream are now used for consistency.

(I have been asked whether I would make the tools available in different languages. I have made no decision yet. To do it right I would need to take care of unicode for the Asian languages as well. The text in the tools is hardcoded for now and the tool is and will be a single exe file. I would need to think of a nice and easy way get past these obstacles. We will see...)

Answering myself:
As for multi-language support, I will do the following as a first step:
- I will leave the buttons all in english only; it is just to much work for this tiny tool to have this all dynamic.
- The help will be available in different languages, referring to the english buttons.
-As help format I will use RTF, so I won't have to deal with unicode in my tools.

edit:
Forgive me for thinking out loud....
I changed my mind. RTF is nice and fancy and allows coloring, but I'd rather go with pure stuff.
From the next version on all my tools will be UNICODE aware. I still will keep only english for the buttons and menues for the time being. But the help text will be unicode and available in multiple languages.
If anyone could send we a unicode text file in some asian or eastern language it would be great to test.

Here we go, another update:

BBScreenShooter 1.44:
Now with UNICODE support and therefore the possibility to have multilanguage help text, starting with english and german. Anyone volunteers for more translations?
New are the shaded frames and some nice key+mouse-click combinations plus the usualy code cleanup and bug fixes.

Download:
http://oppitronic.de/pb/oui!/bbscreenshooter.exe

BBSceenStream v0.84:
As well added basic support for UNICODE, however the avi creation does not like this so it is not used yet. Some fixes and cleanup.
EDIT: now it works! Includes German help now!

Download:

The help text has been reworked for both programs and might be worth a look.
The screenshots have been updated.
To use these programs you need a Blackberry connected to your PV via USB, the Blackberry Desktop or Device Manager installed, a Blackberry OS version of 4.0.2 or higher and the javaloader.exe from the JDE Components Package 4.x.

You can get the Components Package from RIM if you follow this link:
BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM)

For video creation I got good results with the old DivX 4.12 codec which can be played almost everywhere.
Get it from: DivX 4.12 Free Download - Softpedia

Volunteers for more help text translations welcome. Just look at the original English one, copy and paste the text into Notepad, translate it, save it as UNICODE text and send it back to me.

Regards
Michael

Thank you so much Micheal!! Both utilities work awesome and will make my life a heck of a lot easier!! Also, your tip in BBscreenstream to turn the screen refresh rate down was great. I have much less keystroke interruption.

Usage:
The Start/Stop button starts or pauses the display.
Adjust the capture speed with the slider (slow ~2s, normal ~1s, fast ~0.5s)
The 1:1; 1:2 and 1:3 buttons scale the screen capture. (if the PC screen is big enough)
The window can be resized to any size, however the scale will always be a multiplier of 10 to avoid picture distortion.

ok, I contacted the developer and after a few pointers, I guess he help me figure it out, the problem with saving video with the BBScreenStreamer was the path, since I'm mexican and my last name contains an "Ñ" the path I was trying to save the video to was with an international character, "Ñ" so that was the problem, saved it to root directory c: and the problem was gone, just to let you all people know this was the issue. again congrats on this "little" tools.

Default new beta updates

Hi, there are 2 updates not yet available with the built-in update function.

BBScreenShooter 1.47j and BBSCreenStream 0.86k
-two values in the ini file to control the timeouts during device detection and password check to overcome a problem on slow USB ports
connecttimeout = 127
passwordtimeout = 255
Increase these values if needed.

-one value to enable the rememberPassword function. If enabled the passord is stored encrypted in the ini file.
rememberPassword = 0
Set this value to 1 to enable.
THIS ENCRYPTION METHOD IS NOT SAFE!!! USE ONLY ON YOUR OWN PC AND IF YOU THINK NOBODY GETS ACCESS TO THE INI FILE!
If rememberPassword is enabled a small "unlocked" icon will be shown at startup.

BBSCreenShooter 1.47j only:
-fixed the saving of the color tables for the frames. Before this fix the color values have been slightly disrupted.
-added Turkish and Spanish help

EDIT:
Don't use the betas any longer, the new stuff is now in the released versions, links in another post below...

The beta versions can be downloaded here:
http://oppitronic.de/public/tmp/bbscreenshooter147j.exe
http://oppitronic.de/public/tmp/bbscreenstream086k.exe

There is one more problem with the avi creation in BBScreenStream: For the file and folder name of the avi file only ASCII characters are currently allowed.
(working on a fix)
Edit: fix available as beta here:
http://oppitronic.de/public/tmp/bbscreenstream086k.exe

As always feedback is welcome.

Michael
